Making My Way Through Life with Cats, Coffee, Cruises and Failed Plant Parenthood

Hello! It's nice to meet you! Let me introduce myself!

Life should be smooth sailing with endless sunshine. Instead, it's packed with caffeine-fueled mornings, daily commutes, feline companionship, occasional cruises and a stubborn battle against my own brown thumb. Retirement sounds like a dream, but cruising, cats, coffee, and the occasional plant propagation hobby all cost money. So here I am, navigating life’s waves with a cup in one hand and two cat in my lap, all while trying not to kill the latest plant I brought home.

The Coffee That Keeps Me Afloat

Coffee is my lifeblood. Without it, I’m basically a grumpy cat with no interest in cuddles or conversation. Whether I’m on a cruise ship or at home, my day starts with a strong brew. It’s not just about waking up; it’s about fueling the sarcasm and wit that keep me moving forward.

Cats: The True Captains of My Life

If you think cats are just pets, you haven’t met my crew. These furry little dictators rule the roost. Cat lovers know the joy and chaos these creatures bring. They demand attention, knock things over, and somehow always find the most inconvenient spot in your bed. This is the crew, but only two are mine. The other two belong to my grown daughter.

The Struggle with Plant Propagation and Keeping Plants Alive

Here’s where my story takes a turn for the tragicomic. I love plants. I admire their green beauty, their calming presence, and the way they brighten up any space. I even tried my hand at plant propagation, thinking I could grow my own little jungle.

Plant propagation sounds simple—cut a stem, place it in water or soil, and watch it grow. For me, it’s more like cut a stem, forget about it for a week, and then find a sad, wilted leaf. My plants have a way of dying that’s almost artistic in its finality.

Despite the failures, I keep trying. There’s something hopeful about plant propagation, even if my results are more “brown thumb” than green. Plus, it’s a great excuse to buy more plants.

Balancing Retirement Dreams with Reality

Retirement sounds like the perfect time to cruise the world, sip endless coffee, cuddle cats, and grow a thriving plant collection. The reality? Cruising, cats, coffee, and plants all cost money. Cats need food and vet visits, coffee beans aren’t free, and plants require supplies.

I’m not ready to give up on my dreams, but I’m also not naive. Budgeting for this lifestyle means making tough choices. Sometimes it’s a cheaper coffee brand, other times it’s skipping a new plant purchase. But the joy these things bring makes every penny worth it.

Despite the challenges, this mix of cruising, cats, coffee, and plants fits me perfectly. It’s not about perfection or having a Pinterest-worthy life. It’s about embracing the chaos, laughing at failures, and enjoying the small victories.

I’m surrounded by things I love, even if my plants look like they’ve been through a storm. My cats keep me grounded, coffee keeps me energized, and cruising keeps me adventurous. This is my version of retirement, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Join me as I document the chaos and mishaps along the way!
